CCPC investigates suspected anti-competitive conduct in the healthcare software sector
September 27, 2024
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has opened an investigation into suspected breaches of competition law by the healthcare software company, Clanwilliam.
The investigation relates to the provision of Electronic Patient Record (EPR) software and related services such as electronic referrals and text messaging services. EPR software is an important tool in the healthcare sector and typically helps healthcare professionals to manage patient consultations; update, store and share patient records; process and analyse patients’ clinical information; manage appointment bookings; and manage prescriptions.
Anyone who believes they may have information relevant to the CCPC’s investigation is invited to submit it by email, on a confidential basis, to competitionenforcement@ccpc.ie. A survey of GPs will also take place as part of the investigation.
As the investigation is ongoing, the CCPC is not in a position to provide any further information at this time.
