Prosecution - Centz Stores 5 Limited trading as Homesavers
Centz 5 Limited trading as Homesavers at Block 2, Units D & E, Ballymaley Business Park, Gort Road, Ballymaley, Ennis, Co. Clare, a trader operating this store, was required to display the selling price of goods offered for sale.
During an inspection of their premises on 24 May 2023, the CCPC found the trader to be in breach of this requirement specifically relating to the failure to include the final price in euro of a product, as required by Regulation 4(1) of the European Communities (Requirements to Indicate Product Prices) Regulation 2002.
On 29 July 2024, Centz 5 Limited entered a guilty plea in the Dublin Metropolitan District Court in respect of the alleged offence and agreed to make a contribution towards the CCPC’s costs in this matter.
On 11 November 2024, Justice Halpin proceeded to sentencing, applying section 1(1) of the Probation of Offenders Act 1907, ordering the trader to make a donation of €200 to the Little Flower Penny Dinners charity.
