Henry Ford & Son Limited recalls certain Transit and Transit Custom vehicles

Henry Ford & Son Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Ford Transit and Transit Custom passenger and light commercial vehicles. The vehicles in question were produced between 02/05/2016 and 04/05/2020. There are 4322 vehicles affected on the Irish market.

A safety issue has been identified, whereby if the Run On Water Pump (ROWP) overheats it could cause localised melting of the pump body and wiring. In extreme cases this could lead to smoke and possibly an engine compartment fire if the vehicle was left unattended. Ford will be replacing the 15 Amp fuse with a 7.5 Amp fuse to prevent the possibility of the ROWP overheating.

What to do:

Ford Ireland will be writing to all affected vehicle owners directly advising them to make an appointment with their local authorised repairer so that this rework may be carried out.
