Toyota Ireland recalls certain Auris, Avensis, Rav4, and Verso passenger vehicles
March 30, 2021
Toyota Ireland Unlimited Company is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Auris, Avensis, Rav4, and Verso passenger vehicles.
The affected vehicles were produced between March 2015 – May 2018.
A safety issue has been identified with the affected vehicles there is a possibility that Exhaust Gas Recirculation cooler (EGR cooler) could develop an internal coolant leak, as a result of insufficient EGR cooler durability. If this were to occur, through continuous usage, the coolant could mix with the soot and in combination with high temperatures, normally present in the EGR module, could create smouldering deposits inside the EGR cooler and intake manifold. This may lead to localized thermal damage in the intake system which might lead to engine power reduction and engine light on. In a very rare cases, this could lead to the melting of the Intake Manifold and in an extremely rare cases we cannot exclude a fire risk.
There are approximately 7,546 affected vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.
