Toyota extends Avensis Verso, Corolla and Yaris recall

Toyota Ireland has extended the voluntary recall of its Avensis Verso, Corolla and Yaris models to cover vehicles produced from February 2003 up to December 2008.

This is an extension to the recall which was announced in May this year.

The recall is being carried out due to a potential problem with the front passenger airbag. The passenger airbag could deploy abnormally in a crash which could possibly lead to injury.

There are 60,977 vehicles affected in total in Ireland.

What to do

Toyota Ireland will be contacting the owners of all affected vehicles by mail and asking them to take their vehicle to a Toyota dealer. The dealer will arrange for an inspection and possible replacement of the affected part. This work will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
