Honda Ireland recall Civic, CRV, Jazz, Insight, FR-V and Legend
February 18, 2016
Honda Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain models of the Civic, CRV, Jazz, Insight, FR-V and Legend. The affected vehicles were produced between 2005 and 2014.
In certain vehicles, the driver’s front airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure. If an affected airbag deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could be propelled into the Driver & Passenger compartment, potentially causing injury to a vehicle occupant.
Approximately 5,300 affected vehicles have been placed on the Irish market.
What to do:
Honda Motor Co Ltd has decided to take preventative recall action. The owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to a Honda dealer or authorised repairer.
The dealer will arrange for the replacement of the inflator inside the drivers airbag module with a new one. This work will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
Universal Honda Ltd will start to contact all owners of affected vehicles in September 2016.
