Mazda Ireland recalls RX-8, B2500/BT-50
November 22, 2016
Mazda Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain models of the RX-8, B2500/BT-50 manufactured between 1 February 2003 and 1 February 2008 (RX-8) and between 14 January 2004 and 22 September 2011 (B2500/BT-50).
The housing of the driver air bag gas generator can burst when the airbag is activated, owing to excessive internal pressure. This can cause the occupants of the vehicle to be injured by metal splinters.
There are 788 affected vehicles in Ireland.
What to do:
Mazda Ireland will be writing directly to those owners involved to arrange to have their vehicles fitted with a new gas generator.
The letter will advise you to contact your nearest Mazda dealer who will arrange to do the refit free of charge. You can also contact Mazda Ireland directly on 01 2334700.
