Lexus Ireland are carrying out a voluntary recall of certain models of the NX300h manufactured between July 2014 and December 2016.

This vehicle is equipped with a brake hold system which, upon activation, maintains brake application after the brake pedal has been depressed to keep the vehicle stopped.

Under certain conditions (for example, unfastening the driver’s seat belt while the system is enabled), the system is designed to deactivate the brake hold function, sound a warning buzzer, display a message in the instrument cluster, and automatically set the parking brake.

Due to improper programming of the brake control module, there is a possibility that the parking brake may not be set automatically when the system is deactivated by certain conditions as previously described.

If this occurs, and the transmission is left in a gear other than “Park,” the vehicle could creep forward or backward increasing the risk of a crash.

There are 342 of these vehicles on the Irish market.

What to do:

Lexus Ireland will be writing directly to those customers involved in this recall to arrange to have their vehicles checked and re-fitted if necessary.
