Mazda Ireland has issued a voluntary recall of certain Mazda 6 models. This recall is following on from an inspection which was carried out on certain Mazda 6 (GY/GG) in April 2014.
On certain models produced between 14th February 2002 and 20th April 2003, the passenger front air bag could deploy abnormally in a crash which could possibly lead to injury or thermal damage on part of the interior compartment, which may lead to fire.
There are 2,172 vehicles affected in Ireland.
What to do
Mazda Ireland will be writing directly to those owners involved in the previous recall, where the inflator was not replaced, to arrange to have their vehicles fitted with a new inflator.
Vehicles that had the air bag replaced during the initial check are not affected by this recall.
The letter will advise you to contact your nearest Mazda dealer who will arrange to do the refit free of charge. You can also contact Mazda Ireland directly on 01 2334700.
