BMW recall passenger vehicles BMW 3 Series

May 25, 2018

BMW Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of BMW 3 Series Sedan, Touring, Coupé and Convertible, Models E90, E91, E92, E93.

The vehicles concerned were manufactured between February, 2005 and May 2011 with both diesel and petrol variants included.

The fault involves the blower regulator wiring harness. The blower-regulator controls the blower-motor’s fan speed (air flow) within the heating and air conditioning system. Over time, irregularities in the crimp connection in conjunction with relative movements of the tin-coated connector at the end of the wiring harness, which connects to the tin-coated blower-regulator pin, could lead to frictional corrosion. As a result, the blower-regulator wiring could be damaged, and could lead to partial contact of individual wire strands. This could result in an irregular current flow (i.e., short circuit), and also further overheating.

This recall affects 15,319 vehicles in Ireland.

What to do:

BMW Ireland will be writing directly to those owners involved in the recall to arrange to have their vehicles inspected.  The letter will advise you to contact your nearest BMW dealer who will arrange to do the inspection free of charge.
