This voluntary recall is being carried out due to a potential problem with a battery cable cover in the boot. In some remote cases, the battery cable cover inside the boot of these vehicles may be incorrectly mounted. This can result in the electrical system malfunctioning, the vehicle failing to start and, in some cases, to charring or fire.
This recall affects approximately 9,000 vehicles in Ireland.
What to do:
Letters will be sent by BMW to owners of the affected vehicles and customers will be asked to arrange an appointment to have the required repair work completed at their authorised service agent. Customers can also call BMW’s freephone number 1890 719 410 for more details.
Any work carried out as part of this recall will be completed free of charge.
