BMW recalls models E60, E61, E63 & E64
May 13, 2019
BMW Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of BMW E60, E61, E63 and E64 models.
The fault affects the insulated bulkhead connector of the positive battery cables in the vehicle’s trunk floor. In rare cases, long-term effects such as vibrations and changing temperatures in connection with increased moisture and extreme road salt loads can lead to corrosion. If this were to occur, an increase in electrical resistance at this cable connection is possible. In addition, humidity can also accumulate causing current leakage increasing. In a few individual cases it could cause the cable connection to overheat due to the electrical resistance or current leakage.
The vehicles in question were manufactured between 5 February 2002 and July 2010.
This recall affects 14,336 vehicles in Ireland.
