Henry Ford & Son Limited recalls certain ‘Ford Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy’ passenger vehicles
October 8, 2020
Henry Ford & Son Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain ‘Ford Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy’ passenger vehicles. A safety issue has been identified whereby the Takata airbags contain an inflator propellant that, in some inflators, may experience a material alteration over time. This potential condition could create excessive internal pressure when the airbag is deployed which could result in the body of the inflator rupturing and metal fragments entering the passenger compartment, potentially causing severe injury or death to the vehicle occupants.
The vehicles in question were manufactured between the following dates:
- Mondeo: 6 February 2007 to 28 February 2017
- S-MAX: 4 December 2014 to 28 February 2017
- Galaxy: 5 January 2006 to 31 July 2009
There are approximately 22,102 vehicles affected on the Irish market.
What to do:
Henry Ford & Son Limited plan to launch the recall at the end of October or early November. It will be a staggered launch due to part availability and Dealer capacity. It is planned that the oldest vehicles will be repaired first.
