Honda Ireland extends recall of Accord, Jazz, Civic & CR-V
January 25, 2017
Honda Ireland is extending its voluntary recall of certain models of the Accord, Jazz, Civic and CR-V. The affected vehicles were produced in 2009.
In certain vehicles, the passenger’s front airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure. If an affected airbag deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could be propelled into the Driver & Passenger compartment, potentially causing injury to a vehicle occupant.
There have been 223 affected vehicles placed on the Irish market.
What to do:
Honda Motor Co Ltd has decided to take preventative recall action. The owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail in May 2017 and asked to take their vehicle to a Honda dealer or authorised repairer.
The dealer will arrange for the replacement of the inflator inside the drivers airbag module with a new one. This work will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
