Honda Recall Certain Civic Modals
March 14, 2018
Honda Ireland is taking recall action with regard to certain models of its 2017 Civic model series.
The trailer hitch (tow bar) vertical load value stated in the owner’s manual (OM) for these models does not comply with the European certified value:
1.0L models OM value: 80kg Certified value: 75kg
1.5L models OM value: 100kg Certified value: 75kg
Honda Ireland states that testing has been carried out to confirm that there is no safety concern associated with using the vertical load value stated in the defective OM.
The models in question are
Model | Type | Model Year | VIN From | VIN To |
CIVIC | FK6 | 2017 | SHHFK6**0HU000101 | SHHFK6**0HU017473 |
FK7 | SHHFK7**0HU000101 | SHHFK7**0HU013676 | ||
FK8 | SHHFK8**0HU000101 | SHHFK8**0HU002774 |
What to do
The owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to a Honda dealer or authorised repairer. The dealer will remove the old owner’s manual from the vehicle and replace it with a new one that contains the revised trailer hitch vertical load values. This work will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
This recall affects 629 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.
