Mazda recalls certain ‘Mazda 6’ passenger vehicles

Mazda Motor Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall on certain ‘Mazda 6’ passenger vehicles. The vehicles affected were produced from 3 June 2002 to 31 June 2015.
A safety issue has been identified, whereby, a defect in the gas generator of the passenger airbag may cause uncontrolled inflation and the release of metal fragments when the airbag is activated, which can cause injury to the occupants.
Approximately 6,435 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland are affected by this recall campaign.
What to do
Mazda Motor Ireland has commenced writing to all affected vehicle owners.
