Mazda recalls certain ‘Mazda CX-5’, ‘Mazda 3’ and ‘Mazda 6’ passenger vehicles

Mazda Motor Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall on certain ‘CX-5 (KE/KF)’, ‘Mazda 3 (BM/BN)’, and ‘Mazda 6 (GJ/GL)’ passenger vehicles. Affected vehicles were produced within the following manufacturing timelines:
- Mazda CX-5 (January 2012 – May 2018)
- Mazda 3 (July 2013 – June 2018)
- Mazda 6 (October 2012 – March 2018)
A safety issue has been identified, whereby, it is possible that an accumulation of soot may cause the intake shutter valve to stick in the closed position. Under certain conditions and in the worst-case scenario, this could result in the engine stalling.
Approximately 10, 470 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland are affected by this recall campaign.
What to do
Mazda Motor Ireland has commenced contacting affected vehicle owners. The letter issued will instruct vehicle owners to contact their local authorised repairer where an appointment will be made to carry out necessary repairs and/or replacement of parts.
