Mercedes-Benz recalls GLE vehicles
October 14, 2019
Mercedes-Benz is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain GLE models which were manufactured between 23 August 2018 and 5 August 2019.
The drain hose of the air conditioning system may not have been correctly installed in affected vehicles. In this case condensed water from the air conditioning system could enter the left or right foot well of the passenger compartment and could cause corrosion in the electrical components installed there and/or lead to short circuits or leakage currents. Furthermore, the automatic emergency call (eCall) could fail, the vehicle could fail to unlock and/or start, and the engine emergency run could also be activated in an on-road vehicle.
57 vehicles have been affected in the Republic of Ireland.
What to do:
Mercedes-Benz Ireland have notified the owners of affected vehicles by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a Mercedes-Benz dealer. The dealer will arrange for the necessary reworks. This work will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
If you believe that your vehicle may be impacted by this recall, you can contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealer or alternatively Mercedes-Benz’s customer care on 01-4094444.
