Nissan recalls Almera, Maxima, Navara/Pick-Up, Pathfinder, Patrol, Terrano II, Tino and XTrail models
July 1, 2014
Nissan has issued a voluntary recall of certain Nissan Almera (N16), Maxima (A33), Navara/Pick-Up (D22), Pathfinder (R50), Patrol (Y61), Terrano II (R20), Tino (V10) and XTrail (T30) models.
This is following on from the voluntary safety recall of 2013 which replaced the front passenger airbag inflators for certain Nissan vehicles produced between 2001 and 2004.
On certain models produced between 2000 and 2004, the front passenger airbag inflators may have been manufactured out of specification. This out of specification condition could create excessive pressure within the inflator during airbag deployment and may result in separation of the airbag housing.
There are approximately 14,000 vehicles affected in Ireland.
What to do
Nissan Ireland will be writing directly to those owners involved in the previous recall, where the inflator was not replaced, to arrange to have their vehicles fitted with a new inflator.
Vehicles that had the air bag replaced during the initial check are not affected by this recall.
The letter will advise you to contact your nearest Nissan dealer who will arrange to do the refit free of charge. You can also contact Nissan Ireland directly on 1850 302 302.
