Toyota recalls certain “Auris Hybrid” and “Prius” passenger vehicles

Toyota Ireland Unlimited Company is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain “Auris Hybrid” and “Prius” passenger vehicles.
The affected “Auris Hybrid” vehicles were produced between May 2014 and September 2018. The affected “Prius” vehicles were produced between February 2014 and October 2015.
A safety issue has been identified, whereby it is possible that due to repeated driving under certain high-load driving patterns (e.g., from a stop, applying nearly full throttle and then gradually further accelerating to full throttle), this may result in damage to specific transistors over time. This could possibly cause the hybrid system to shut down without entering a failsafe driving mode that may result in the vehicle losing motive power while driving at higher speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects approximately 3,467 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.
What to do:
Toyota Ireland Unlimited Company will directly contact all affected customers by post advising them to make an appointment with their local Authorised Repairer where any necessary repairs/replacement of parts will be carried out.
