Toyota recalls passenger vehicle GT86
November 13, 2018
Toyota Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of GT86 vehicles.
The risk identified regards the excessive performance load compared to the design assumption of the valve spring, and manufacturing variation (variation of metal fatigue strength and micro foreign matter in the spring material), performance load may exceed the valve spring’s fatigue strength and potentially fracture.
If the valve spring fractures, the engine may stall while driving and may become unable to restart it, increasing safety risk.
The recalled models is the GT86 and they were manufactured between April 2012 and May 2013. 63 affected vehicles were made available on the Irish market.
