Toyota recalls passenger vehicle model Proace
January 3, 2019
Toyota Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Proace models.
In the event of an excessive impact force to the wheel (e.g. hitting a curb, high speed pothole, etc.), the tightening torque set to the threaded connection between the ball joint and knuckle may decrease.
Over time there is a risk that the ball joint tightening torque could decrease further and eventually the ball joint might detach from the knuckle. If this happens, the customer might have some difficulty to control the vehicle
This particular model affects 128 vehicles in the Irish market that were manufactured between March 2016 and November 2018.
What to do:
Toyota Ireland will be writing directly to those customers involved in this recall to arrange to have the vehicle inspected and parts replaced if necessary. Consumers affected by this voluntary recall will need to contact their nearest Toyota Dealer who will arrange to do the repair free of charge.
Toyota Ireland can be contacted on: 01 419 0222.
