Toyota recalls Proace
February 1, 2017
Toyota Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain models of the Proace manufactured between March 2016 and November 2016.
There are two issues:
1) Water body leakage at the cowl louver area – There is a possibility that water could enter the cabin through the panels separating the cabin and the engine compartment. If this occurs, water could reach some electrical components such as the airbag module. This could lead to the airbag module not working properly which may cause an unexpected airbag deployment.
There are 118 vehicles in Ireland affected by this issue.
2) Wheel bolt looseness – There is a possibility that the bolt(s) holding the wheel(s) are not properly tightened. As a result, there is a risk that the wheel rim(s) might crack over time or the wheel could detach during driving.
There are 8 vehicles affected by this issue and the above one.
What to do:
Toyota Ireland will be writing directly to those customers involved in this recall to arrange to have the repair carried out.
