Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited recalls certain Audi – ‘A4’, ‘A5’, ‘A6’, ‘A7’ and ‘Q5’ passenger vehicles
May 12, 2020
Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Audi – ‘A4’, ‘A5’, ‘A6’, ‘A7’ and ‘Q5’ passenger vehicles. The vehicles were produced between May 2017 and March 2020.
A safety issue has been identified, whereby it is possible that due to the possibility of moisture penetration in the strap starter generator, following the chemical reaction, short circuit jumpers can arise which can lead to local overheating in the component. A subsequent vehicle fire cannot be ruled out. Due to the permanent power supply of the strap starter generator, this can occur when the vehicle has already been parked for a while.
In principle, the vehicle should be parked outdoors only, until the measure is carried out.
The recall affects 205 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.
What to do:
Once the current restrictions are eased and the dealers can reopen to the public Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited will write directly to all affected vehicle owners and will inform them of the recall and the next steps to be taken.
If you believe that your vehicle may be impacted by this recall, then you can contact Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited’s customer care on 1850 812 760 or alternatively email them on audicustomerservice@audi.ie
