Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited recalls certain ‘Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, Q5’ passenger vehicles

Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain ‘Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, Q5’ passenger vehicles. The vehicles were produced between May 2017 and March 2020.

A safety issue has been identified whereby ingress of moisture into the belt starter generator could generate short-circuits, leading to local overheating of the component. A subsequent vehicle fire cannot be ruled out. The belt starter generator is being replaced in the vehicles concerned.

There are approximately 1,767 vehicles affected on the Irish market.

What to do:

Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited has sent a letter to the registered owners of the vehicles affected informing them of the recall and the next steps to be taken.
