Volkswagen recalls various passenger vehicle models over safety issue
December 18, 2018
Volkswagen are carrying out a voluntary safety recall campaign for certain Caddy, Golf, Passat, and Touran passenger vehicles. The vehicles effected were produced between May 2018 and August 2018.
The established safety risk is that the backrest may be defective, as the fitting for the headrest fails to comply with requirements. The supportive and protective effect of the headrest may consequently be limited in the event of an accident.
This recall effects 415 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.
What to do:
Volkswagen will be writing directly to the registered vehicle owners and instructing them to take their vehicles to a nominated garage where necessary checks will be carried out. The welding of the fittings is to be checked and, if necessary, the backrest frame concerned replaced.
